Per Jaldung Set to Lead Grand Casino Brussels After Tenure as Swedish Casino Magnate

Per Jaldung, a name recognized in the world of European gaming, has confirmed his next move in the industry. Announcing through LinkedIn, Jaldung revealed his appointment as the new Chief Executive Officer for Grand Casino Brussels. His tenure at this premier entertainment venue, owned by Casinos Austria International, will commence on the 11th of December. The establishment sits at the heart of Belgium’s vibrant capital and stands as a beacon for both gaming enthusiasts and tourists seeking a taste of luxury and excitement.

The new chapter in Jaldung’s career follows a brief hiatus after a longstanding and influential spell at Casino Cosmopol. For almost 21 years, Jaldung contributed to the Swedish land-based casino brand, with over 14 of those years positioned at the helm as its chief. Casino Cosmopol, falling under the umbrella of the state-owned Svenska Spel, benefitted from Jaldung’s stewardship – navigating the brand through the evolving landscape of the European casino industry.

Before ascending to casino industry prominence, Jaldung was engaged in the sphere of law enforcement. He boasts of a tenure that spanned over nine years at Sweden’s National Criminal Investigation Department, equipping him with a unique perspective on the regulatory and security aspects of the casino business.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Jaldung stated, “I am really looking forward to getting back into the casino world. I have missed it and I can’t wait to get on board with the experienced team at Viage.” The seasoned team at Grande Casino Brussels, known for their expertise and professionalism in delivering top-notch casino services, will now be guided by Jaldung’s proven leadership and strategic acumen.

The gaming world has also known Per Jaldung as a figurehead within the European Casino Association (ECA), having served as its chairman from February 2015 till February 2023. His commitment to the industry and remarkable knowledge allowed him to influence significant advancements within the ECA. On ending his chairmanship, Jaldung transitioned to the role of honorary president, a testament to the esteem with which he is held amongst his peers.

The baton of leadership at ECA has now been passed to Erwin van Lambaart, who assumed the mantle with the unanimous support of its members.

The transition occurs amid another notable departure within Svenska Spel’s executive ranks. Patrik Hofbauer, who has been presiding over Svenska Spel’s operations for close to five years since December 2018, is slated to depart early next year. Hofbauer’s leadership has seen Svenska Spel maintain its position in a highly competitive market. However, he will be delving into a new venture, taking up the roles of president and CEO at Swedish telecommunications giant Telia Company, marking an end to his tenure in the gaming sector.

As the casino and gaming sphere continues to witness shifts in its leadership landscape, Jaldung’s return as a CEO marks not only a personal new beginning but also signals a potential era of growth and innovation for Grand Casino Brussels. With a storied career and a proven track record behind him, the gaming community watches with anticipation as Jaldung steps into the casino limelight once again, ready to steer Grand Casino Brussels into its next chapter of success and development in the heart of Europe.
