Fanatics Sportsbook Debuts in Kansas Acquires PointsBet Client Base

The sports betting landscape in Kansas has welcomed a significant change with the arrival of Fanatics Sportsbook, a name rapidly becoming familiar to aficionados of sports wagering across the United States. As Fanatics continues its expansion, players looking to try their luck in Kansas can now download the Fanatics Sportsbook app and indulge in their betting passions.

The transition for punters in the Sunflower State comes as Fanatics takes over from PointsBet, offering customers a seamless switch. All existing PointsBet customers in Kansas will find their accounts, including their preferences, migrated to the new Fanatics platform. Important details such as usernames, passwords, account balances, accumulated rewards points, and any responsible gaming settings have been moved to ensure a continuation of service without any disruptions.

With its latest advance into Kansas, Fanatics has successfully extended its sports betting presence to 17 states, testifying to the company’s growing influence in the market. This strategic expansion follows closely behind their entrance into North Carolina, marking another state where sports betting enthusiasts can join the Fanatics community since the region officially gave a nod to legal sports betting.

Fanatics has been on a tear lately, replacing the PointsBet brand not just in Kansas but also in other regions, including the significant market of New York. August 2023 marked a milestone when FBG finalized the acquisition of PointsBet US, and since then, the company has gradually phased out the PointsBet brand, replicating this switch in Indiana as well.

Continuing its momentum, FBG recently acquired an event wagering license from the Arizona Department of Gaming, laying the groundwork for its launch in Arizona and boosting the firm’s expansion roadmap. Besides sports betting, Fanatics spreads its wings within the gaming sector, running Fanatics Casino operations in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, underlining its diverse gaming and betting offerings.

Metrics from the most recent set of monthly results uncover February’s year-on-year growth in Kansas’s sports betting market. The state saw its total betting handle swell by 4.6% compared to the previous year, reaching an impressive $203.0 million. A staggering majority, $193.9 million, was attributed to online sportsbooks. On the other hand, brick-and-mortar venues contributed a modest $9.1 million.

Kansas’s sports betting revenue witnessed an astronomical surge of 8,405.8%, summing up to $3.1 million, thanks largely to online betting’s $3.0 million contribution. Interestingly, despite this impressive online performance, the retail sportsbooks managed to generate a mere $5,025. Kansas also managed to collect $305,494 in taxes during this period.

The PointsBet brand, partnered with Kansas Crossing, displayed a somewhat underwhelming performance in February. Despite registering $1.6 million wagered, it failed to accrue any net revenue for that period. Compared to the six online betting ventures operating in Kansas, the former PointsBet-Kansas City partnership underperformed. DraftKings and Boot Hill Casino led the pack with a revenue of $2.0 million generated from a betting handle of $87.7 million.

The revenue landscape, however, was polarizing, since only half of the online operators reported profits in February. FanDuel and Kansas Star pulled in revenue of $885,938 from a total of $58.5 million wagers, while Caesar’s, sharing a partnership with Kansas Crossing like PointsBet once did, reported $198,496 in revenue from $11.2 million in online bets.

The recent strategic moves by Fanatics have undeniably shaken up the market dynamics in Kansas. The company’s decision to pick up where PointsBet left off signals a strong confidence in its sportsbook offer and a commitment to secure a significant share of the local and national betting scene. With a broadening footprint, Fanatics Sportsbook is setting sails to steer the helm of sports betting across the United States.
