PM Modi Accuses Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi of Silence on Corporate Relationships

In an outspoken critique directed at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday questioned the Congress party’s sudden quietude regarding prominent industrialists Adani and Ambani, and raised allegations of illicit financial transactions. Addressing the audience at a public meeting, PM Modi spotlighted the dramatic change in rhetoric observed from the opposition party’s figurehead, who had frequently targeted a group of ‘5 industrialists’ and later sharpened his focus specifically on “Ambani and Adani,” only to fall into an uncharacteristic silence.

PM Modi’s inquiry into the Congress party’s silence posed a direct challenge to Rahul Gandhi, the ‘Shehzada’ of Congress, as he insinuated potentially dubious financial transactions. “However, since the election dates were declared, they (Rahul and other Congress leaders) have even stopped abusing Ambani, Adani. Why? I wish to ask the Shehzadey of the Congress: how much black money have they received from Adani, Ambani? How much (funding) did the Congress receive from them for the (ongoing) elections? I smell something wrong here. The Congress should come out and clarify to the people,” he stated.

In a scathing commentary extending beyond the borders of corporate criticism, PM Modi also implicated Rahul Gandhi’s Congress colleague and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in an ‘RR’ tax scandal, suggesting corruption and financial malpractice. Drawing an analogy with the recent cinematic success, ‘RRR’, PM Modi alleged that the real-life ‘RR’ had surpassed the film’s collections through corrupt means. “From Telangana to Delhi, a lot is being spoken about the ‘double R’ (RR) tax. However, someone told me that ‘RR’ has left ‘RRR’ far behind when it comes to collections. Telangana mein ek R loot ta hai aur Delhi mein dusre R ko deta hai. (One R loots the public in Telangana and gives the collections to another R in Delhi). This double ‘RR’ game could potentially destroy Telangana,” he warned.

The Prime Minister did not restrain his criticism to the opposition party alone but expanded his reproach to the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), the erstwhile ruling party in the state, contrasting their ‘family first’ approach to the BJP’s ‘nation first’ policy. He condemned dynastic tendencies in Indian politics and pegged both Congress and BRS as parties mired in corruption and appeasement politics, referring to their governance model as ‘zero governance.’

Furrowing deeper into controversy, PM Modi accused the Congress of conspiring against historically underprivileged classes, namely the SCs, STs, and OBCs. “The Constitution, as was envisioned and drafted by Babasaheb Ambedkar, is against the idea of reservation on the basis of religion. They want to steal from your quota, as guaranteed by the Constitution, and give it to their vote bank,” he alleged, reinforcing fears about caste-based politics.

Renewing attention on the cherished Ram temple in Ayodhya, PM Modi invoked the explosive allegations made by expelled Congress confidant Acharya Pramod Krishnam against Rahul Gandhi. Modi claimed that the Congress not only opposed the temple construction but also sought to reverse the Supreme Court’s decision which settled a historical dispute in favor of the Hindus.

The Prime Minister’s unforgiving onslaught on Rahul Gandhi and the Congress delivered a clear message on the political battleground, raising questions about transparency, governance, and the influence of powerful industrialists. As election fervor intensifies, such statements from the highest echelons of Indian politics illustrate the deep divisions and longstanding accusations of corruption that continue to influence the electorate’s perceptions.
