Esha Deol Advocates Green Legacy Through Mumbai School Tree Planting Initiative

Bollywood’s own Esha Deol took a heartfelt initiative as she stepped back into the familiar grounds of her alma mater, the esteemed Jamnabai Narsee International School in Mumbai, to spearhead a significant tree plantation drive. Embracing the spirit of World Environment Day 2024, the beloved actress demonstrated her commitment to ecological preservation by actively participating in the noble effort spearheaded by the Bhamla Foundation. The sight of Deol, resplendent in a pink salwar suit, as she carefully planted saplings, was symbolic not just of her enduring charm but also her deep-rooted concern for the environment.

The star took to Instagram to share the event’s significance, expressing a heartfelt message about the importance of extending green cover to safeguard the future of the coming generations. “At the tree plantation drive to achieve the goal of 10,000 trees across all schools of Mumbai city. We started off by planting trees at Jamnabai Narsee International School (being an X student & having the privilege of planting a tree there felt very special) Another fantastic initiative by @bhamlafoundation ahead of Environment Day,” Deol penned in her social media update.

Not standing alone in this environmental crusade, Esha was flanked by industry icon and noted green activist Jackie Shroff, in addition to Amruta Fadnavis, reinforcing the collective effort by personalities from diverse fields to nurture nature. Their synchronized action underscored a significant message just days before the observance of World Environment Day, emphasizing the need for ecological consciousness and action.

While Esha Deol may have carved her niche in the audience’s hearts through cinematic ventures like ‘Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe’, ‘Dhoom’, ‘Kaal’, ‘Dus’, and ‘No Entry’, her off-screen roles have been equally impactful, especially in terms of her environmental advocacy. Amidst her busy schedule shooting for upcoming film projects, Deol took time to partake in the plantation drive and conveyed her excitement about returning to acting, while teasing fans with imminent announcements of new works.

Recent extreme weather episodes, like the unexpected storm that struck Mumbai and the unusual floods in Dubai, anchor Deol’s environmental concerns. She notes these events as nature’s distress signals, urging humanity to preserve her pristine splendor. Esha’s initiative reflects a deeper understanding of the adverse effects of rampant urbanization – the increasing trend of felling trees to pave the way for new constructions – and she regards it as our collective duty to ensure that more trees are planted for the wellbeing of future generations.

Earlier in the year, the actress announced her separation from her husband Bharat Takhtani after over a decade-long union. The couple had a relatively private wedding ceremony at the ISKCON temple in Mumbai in 2012 and are parents to two daughters, Radhya and Miraya, born in 2017 and 2019 respectively.

With the event covered extensively with inputs from IANS, the hopeful quest for a greener tomorrow found a new face in Esha Deol. Her participation in the plantation drive ahead of World Environment Day 2024 not only set the stage for a more ecologically responsible society but also passed on the torch to institutions like schools to foster an environment-centric culture amongst the youth. As the photos from the event circulate on social media platforms, they stand as a testament to the tangible difference on-screen idols can make in leading by example and inspiring positive changes for a sustainable future.
