Veteran BJP Stalwart LK Advani Discharged from AIIMS Delhi

Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani was discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Thursday. The former Deputy Prime Minister, who is 96 years old, had been admitted to the hospital the previous night due to age-related health concerns, according to a hospital official.

Advani, a towering figure in Indian politics, was assessed by a multidisciplinary team of doctors specializing in urology and geriatric medicine, and it is understood that he underwent a minor medical procedure. The team of healthcare specialists had evaluated him comprehensively to ensure a well-rounded approach to his medical needs.

“Advani was admitted for issues related to old age and has been discharged,” an AIIMS official confirmed, adding that he had been admitted to the old private ward of the esteemed medical institution around 10:30 pm on Wednesday. The exact nature of the treatment he received remains unspecified, but sources indicate that it was a minor procedure to address some of the health concerns typical for someone of his age.

Lal Krishna Advani’s political career spans several decades, marked by significant milestones and influential roles. Born on November 8, 1927, in Karachi, Advani played a pivotal role in the rise of the BJP from a marginal entity to one of India’s most prominent political forces. His leadership and vision were instrumental in shaping the party’s ideologies and strategies, particularly through the 1980s and 90s.

The nonagenarian leader has held various critical positions throughout his career, most notably serving as the Deputy Prime Minister of India from 2002 to 2004 under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government. He was also the Minister of Home Affairs during the same period, where he dealt with some of the country’s most pressing internal security issues.

Advani is perhaps best known for his Rath Yatra in 1990, a political and religious mobilization that had a profound impact on Indian society and politics. The yatra, which advocated for the construction of a Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya, played a significant role in the rise of Hindu nationalism and the eventual demolition of the Babri Masjid in 1992.

. This event marked a turning point in Indian politics and catapulted the BJP into the national spotlight, eventually leading to its first major electoral successes in the mid-90s.

Despite his advancing age and reduced active involvement in day-to-day politics in recent years, Advani remains a respected patriarch within the BJP. His insights and experiences are still sought after by the party’s current leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, both of whom have often acknowledged his contributions.

This recent hospitalization and subsequent discharge remind the nation of the sometimes frail health of its elder statesman. Nevertheless, it also highlights the robust medical care and attention that prominent figures like Advani receive. As he returns to his residence, his well-wishers within the political community and the general public will undoubtedly be relieved and hopeful for his continued well-being.

It is also important to note that media reports regarding Advani’s health were widely followed, reflecting his enduring influence and the public’s vested interest in his well-being. The mainstream media, including newspapers and digital platforms, provided timely updates about his medical condition, signifying the role of a free press in democracies to keep the populace informed about significant figures in public life.

In related developments, while Advani’s health remains a topic of interest, another significant news story has also been unfolding. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has recently made arrests in connection with a paper leak case related to the NEET-UG exam. Two individuals from Patna have been apprehended by the CBI, shedding light on the ongoing issues of corruption and malpractice within India’s educational system.

As the nation looks forward to more updates on both these fronts, the recent events once again underscore the dynamic and multifaceted nature of Indian society and politics. From the robust health of its veteran leaders to ongoing challenges in the education sector, these stories weave together a complex narrative of contemporary India.
