A compelling blend of mystery and dark comedy, the ten-episode series “Sunny” stars Rashida Jones as Suzie, an American residing in Kyoto, Japan. Suzie’s life plunges into chaos when her husband and son vanish in a bizarre plane crash. As a token of consolation, Suzie receives Sunny, one of the latest domestic robots crafted by her husband’s electronics company. Initially, Suzie is reluctant to accept Sunny’s presence, but as the series progresses, the two form an unforeseen friendship. Together, they delve into the murky past surrounding the disappearance of Suzie’s family, pulling Suzie into a world she never knew existed.
“Sunny” is the creation of Katie Robbins, who also serves as the showrunner alongside executive producer and director Lucy Tcherniak. Rashida Jones not only stars but also fulfills the role of executive producer. Other notable cast members include Hidetoshi Nishijima, Joanna Sotomura, Judy Ongg, YOU, annie the clumsy, and Jun Kunimura. The series, produced by A24, is adapted from Colin O’Sullivan’s book “Dark Manual” and is set to globally premiere with its first two episodes on Wednesday, July 10th, followed by weekly releases each Wednesday through September 4th.
Transitioning from mystery to space drama, “Fly Me to the Moon” stars Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum in an invigorating comedy-drama set during NASA’s historic Apollo 11 moon landing. Johansson portrays Kelly Jones, a marketing genius hired to refurbish NASA’s public image. Her involvement complicates launch director Cole Davis’ (Tatum) already challenging mission. In the seven-part limited series “Lady in the Lake,” based on Laura Lippman’s bestselling novel, Natalie Portman stars alongside Moses Ingram in an engrossing tale set in Baltimore during Thanksgiving of 1966. The narrative pivots around Maddie Schwartz (Portman), a Jewish housewife striving to escape her secretive past and reinvent herself as an investigative journalist, and Cleo Sherwood (Ingram), a mother navigating the politically charged atmosphere of Black Baltimore. As Maddie becomes obsessed with unraveling the enigma behind Cleo’s death, the intersecting lives of these women culminate in dangerous and unpredictable outcomes.
The series, helmed by Alma Har’el, boasts an ensemble cast including Y’lan Noel, Brett Gelman, Byron Bowers, Noah Jupe, Josiah Cross, Mikey Madison, and Pruitt Taylor Vince. “Lady in the Lake” will launch globally with the initial two episodes on Friday, July 19th, followed by new episodes every Friday through August 23rd.

“Women in Blue (Las Azules)” is an anticipated ten-episode Spanish-language crime drama spotlighting an all-Hispanic cast and crew led by Bárbara Mori. Created by showrunner and director Fernando Rovzar and Pablo Aramendi, and inspired by real events from 1970, the series narrates the journey of four women who defy the conservative norms of their era to join Mexico’s first female police force. They soon discover their squad’s true purpose is to divert media attention from a ruthless serial killer. Determined to bring the killer to justice, María (Mori), Gabina (Amorita Rasgado), Ángeles (Ximena Sariñana), and Valentina (Natalia Téllez) embark on a secret investigation, showing extraordinary bravery and resilience.
The cast is rounded out by Miguel Rodarte, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Christian Tappan, and Horacio García Rojas. With executive producers Fernando Rovzar, Wendy Riss, Erica Sánchez Su, Sandra Solares, and Billy Rovzar at the helm, “Women in Blue” will premiere its first two episodes on Wednesday, July 31st, followed by weekly installments through September 25th.
Switching gears to an action-packed narrative, “The Instigators” features Matt Damon and Casey Affleck as unlikely partners embroiled in a perilous heist. Directed by Doug Liman, and written by Chuck MacLean and Casey Affleck, the story follows Rory (Damon) and Cobby (Affleck) as they navigate a botched robbery, pursued by the police, corrupt bureaucrats, and vengeful crime lords. Supported by Rory’s therapist (Hong Chau), they must work together to evade capture in this high-stakes thriller.
“The Instigators” also stars Michael Stuhlbarg, Paul Walter Hauser, Ving Rhames, Alfred Molina, and Toby Jones, with appearances from Jack Harlow and Ron Perlman. This gripping series will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, August 9th.
The children’s genre takes a vibrant twist with “Yo Gabba GabbaLand!”, a new 10-episode series inspired by the beloved cultural phenomenon. Developed by Christian Jacobs and Scott Schultz, this show promises a magical world filled with joy, learning, and new adventures. Returning characters like Brobee, Foofa, Muno, Toodee, and Plex, alongside the new host Kammy Kam (Kamryn Smith), engage children and families in life lessons through captivating songs and dances.
Produced in collaboration with WildBrain and Yo Gabba Gabba, LLC, and featuring guest stars such as Reggie Watts, Sam Richardson, and Gillian Jacobs, “Yo Gabba GabbaLand!” will debut globally on Friday, August 9th.
Wrapping up the slate is “Bad Monkey,” an Apple Original comedy series starring and executively produced by Vince Vaughn. Based on Carl Hiaasen’s novel, the show follows Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), a former Miami police officer turned health inspector, who stumbles upon a mysterious case involving a human arm found by tourists. To restore his career, he must navigate through a slew of eccentric characters, including the titular bad monkey.
Developed by Bill Lawrence, with a robust ensemble cast including L. Scott Caldwell, Rob Delaney, Meredith Hagner, and special guest appearances by Zach Braff and Charlotte Lawrence in her TV debut, “Bad Monkey” will premiere with two episodes on August 14th, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through October 9th on Apple TV+.
