In an exciting development for Indian television, fans of the iconic show “Fauji” have a lot to look forward to. The much-loved serial, which first introduced Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan to audiences in 1989, is all set to make its grand comeback as “Fauji 2.” This ambitious venture is spearheaded by filmmaker Sandeep Singh, who has collaborated with national broadcaster Doordarshan to revive and sequelize this classic series in a modern reimagining.
Sandeep Singh has openly expressed his enthusiasm for the project. In a press release, he highlighted the monumental task they’ve undertaken: “We are bringing back one of the greatest shows ever seen on television, but with a fresh and exciting twist. The original ‘Fauji’ introduced us to Shah Rukh Khan, who went on to become one of the most celebrated actors. With ‘Fauji 2,’ I aim to recreate history and connect with the Indian audience, especially its youth, in a meaningful way.”
This new iteration of “Fauji,” titled “Fauji 2,” brings a fresh cast to the screen while maintaining the essence of its predecessor. Leading the cast is Vikas Jain, known from “Bigg Boss 17,” who will step into the role of Colonel Sanjay Singh. Alongside him, acclaimed actress Gauahar Khan will portray Lieutenant Colonel Simarjeet Kaur, a cadet trainer specializing in weaponry. Such characters promise an intense narrative enriched with the military ethos that made the original so endearing to its audience.
Adding to the allure, “Fauji 2” will introduce 12 new actors, each selected from various regions across India, showcasing a diverse tapestry of talent. Among these fresh faces are Aashish Bhardwaj as Daksh Desai from Surat, Utkarsh Kohli as Rangrez Phogat from Charkhi Dadri in Haryana, and Rudra Soni as Harun Malik from Srinagar. This ensemble also features talents like Ayaan Manchanda, Niel Satpuda, and Sushmita Bhandari, each bringing their unique flair to the series.

The project emphasizes a unique storytelling approach, which Sandeep Singh elaborates on: “We spent six months meticulously brainstorming to craft a story that keeps viewers engaged throughout. Unlike conventional television narratives, ‘Fauji 2’ boasts a distinctive storytelling style that promises to captivate.” The series is said to be rich with emotion and offers an intimate look into the lives of army personnel. It explores their bonds that transcend cultural and religious boundaries, emphasizing their steadfast commitment to protecting the nation. “Fauji 2 is a tale of courage and inspiration,” Singh notes, promising a narrative filled with deep-seated courage and heroism.
Navneet Kumar Sehgal, chairman of Doordarshan, added to the anticipation surrounding the show by reflecting on the original’s profound impact: “‘Fauji’ is one of our most prestigious shows that resonates deeply with the audience, and its revival seems only fitting for today’s viewers.” This sentiment was echoed by Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO of Doordarshan, who couldn’t hide his excitement: “As soon as we encountered the concept of ‘Fauji 2,’ it was clear we needed to pursue this iconic project. It will soon be on-air, and we are thrilled to bring back the magic of ‘Fauji’ for our cherished audience.”
In a delightful addition to the series, acclaimed singer Sonu Nigam has lent his mellifluous voice to the title track, enhancing its musical appeal. “Fauji 2” will feature 11 songs, crafted by Filmfare Award-winning music director Shreyas Puranik, along with contributions from Shashi Suman and Jazim Sharma, promising a rich auditory experience alongside its visual storytelling.
The creative backbone of ‘Fauji 2’ is further supported by a talented writing team comprising Amarnath Jha, Vishal Chaturvedi, Anil Choudhary, and Chaitanya Tulsyan. Furthermore, the series marks the directorial debut of Abhinav Pareek, promising fresh direction and narrative vision.
Set to air in multiple languages—Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Punjabi, and Bengali—on Doordarshan, “Fauji 2” ensures it will be accessible to a vast and diverse audience, rekindling the nostalgic appeal of its predecessor while forging new memories for a modern generation. While the release date remains under wraps, the buzz suggests it promises to be a significant television event that pays homage to its roots while charting its own unique path forward.
