As the vibrant festival of Karwa Chauth gripped the nation, Bollywood’s elite participated wholeheartedly in the celebrations. Among the sea of red and pink outfits traditionally donned by women observing this auspicious day, actress Sonam Kapoor made a memorable style statement by opting for a striking mint green ensemble. Her choice to diverge from the classic color palette turned heads and positioned her as a style icon for the evening’s festivities.
Sonam Kapoor was seen making her way to her father, Anil Kapoor’s residence, to partake in the Karwa Chauth celebrations, an event that not only brings married women together in fasting for the well-being of their husbands but has also become a grand affair in Bollywood circles. Although Sonam doesn’t partake in the fasting tradition, she never misses an opportunity to embrace the festive spirit through her fashion choices.
Emerging as a vision in mint green, the ‘Neerja’ actress wore a beautifully crafted saree-styled lehenga. Her outfit featured a V-neck jacket blouse adorned with intricate embroidery, stunning mirror work, and delicate floral patterns. To complement the blouse, she paired it with a matching pleated skirt and a long, elegant cape, enhancing her ethereal look.
Around her neck, Sonam made a nod to the festival’s celestial theme by showcasing her ‘phases of the moon’ tattoo, which subtly graced her neck and beautifully matched her moon-inspired accessories. She completed her ensemble with an eye-catching pair of statement multi-layered, three-piece moon-shaped earrings that descended gracefully to her shoulders, adding a unique sparkle to her appearance.
Inside Anil Kapoor’s residence, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and tradition as other prominent Bollywood personalities attended in their ethnic best for the customary Karwa Chauth puja. Shilpa Shetty was a vision in a classic red saree, staying true to the festive tradition, while Raveena Tandon chose an elegant anarkali suit. Mira Kapoor was also seen wearing a saree, radiating grace and charm.

The event saw a confluence of fashion and tradition as the likes of Maheep Kapoor and Bhavana Panday arrived together, striking poses for the paparazzi, creating delightful moments that were captured in many photographs. Neelam joined in for a group picture, adding to the warmth and camaraderie of the occasion.
Recently, Sonam Kapoor took to social media to share glimpses of her Karwa Chauth mehendi. Her designs included her husband Anand’s name artfully placed on one wrist and her son Vayu’s name on the other, symbolizing her love and devotion for her family through this traditional art form.
Karwa Chauth, celebrated during the month of Kartik on the Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha, is a festival where married women in India undertake a day-long nirjal vrat (fast without water) for the prosperity and longevity of their husbands. The fasting starts at dawn following a pre-dawn meal known as sargi, given to them by their mothers-in-law. This fast is broken only after the women sight the moon in the evening, following which they are ceremonially fed food and water by their husbands.
The significance of the festival is palpable in the excitement and dedication with which it is celebrated. The sighting of the moon is a moment filled with anticipation, marking the culmination of the day’s rituals. This tradition has transcended its religious roots and become a cultural celebration, especially among Bollywood celebrities who add their glamour and flair to the occasion.
Sonam Kapoor’s decision to step away from the conventional red and pink hues associated with Karwa Chauth to embrace a mint green palette, along with her choice of moon-themed accessories, not only set fashion trends but also emphasized individuality while honoring tradition. Her sartorial choices, paired with her beautifully intricate mehendi designs, exemplified her ability to blend classic and contemporary aesthetics, making her a standout at this year’s celebrations.
