Akshay Kumar Reflects on Humbling Incident in Bangkok on ‘Dhawan Karenge’

Recently, actor Akshay Kumar shared a touching anecdote from his past that left an indelible mark on his character. Appearing on ace cricketer Shikhar Dhawan’s much-anticipated new chat show, ‘Dhawan Karenge,’ Kumar recounted a particularly enlightening experience from his time in Bangkok, which underscored the immense value of humility.

Kumar’s father had played a pivotal role in shaping his life at an early age. Recognizing his son’s disinterest in academic pursuits, he decided to send Akshay to Bangkok, hoping this relocation would ignite a newfound passion. Reflecting on this period, Akshay said, “My father realized my lack of interest in studies and helped me relocate to Bangkok at an early age. I liked the country. Right from the moment you disembark from the plane, you are greeted by people bowing with their hands joined. It is a simple gesture but immensely beautiful when you understand it’s rooted in humbling oneself, and it comes so naturally to them.”

During the show, the ‘Khiladi’ star narrated an incident that not only rendered a lesson in humility but also offered deep reflections on his development as an individual. “I remember an incident that taught me the significance of humility and bowing down. While driving one day, I accidentally collided with the motorbike of an RTO officer while making a turn. The accident caused both of us to fall. Fear overcame me instantly, and I found myself apologizing and bowing to him. Instead of reacting with anger, the officer helped me pick up my bike and helmet, and calmly advised me to drive more carefully. This encounter taught me that when you humble yourself, you gain the resilience to navigate through any challenge or obstacle,” he shared.

Moving on to his professional life, Akshay discussed his recent ventures. He was last seen in the film ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,’ directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. The film features an ensemble cast including Prithviraj Sukumaran in a mesmerizing villainous role along with Sonakshi Sinha, Manushi Chhillar, and Alaya F in pivotal roles. The movie, which hit theaters on April 10, 2024, had to contend with stiff competition at the box office, clashing with Ajay Devgn’s ‘Maidaan.’

Looking ahead, Kumar expressed his excitement about his upcoming projects.
