Transitioning from television to films, Avneet Kaur has had a remarkable journey, with her latest venture being the film “Luv Ki Arrange Marriage.” This project not only saw her take on an intriguing role but also provided her with the opportunity to work alongside seasoned actors like Supriya Pathak and Annu Kapoor. In an engaging discussion about the film, Avneet expressed her excitement and satisfaction with the project, stating, “Luv Ki Arrange Marriage ticked all the right boxes for me—from the story to my character to an eclectic and experienced cast.”
The premise of the movie revolves around an unconventional love story where Avneet’s character plans to marry, only to find out her mother (played by Supriya Pathak) falls in love with her partner’s father (Annu Kapoor). Reflecting on her experience working with such esteemed actors, Avneet shared, “I used to be quite alert, observing Supriya ma’am’s every expression while shooting. It has been a learning experience for me to watch her effortless acting. I love her [career] graph [and the films] she has done. I remember being blown away by her performance in Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela [2013].”
Just before diving into the promotions for “Luv Ki Arrange Marriage,” Avneet marked another career milestone—the announcement of her upcoming Indo-Vietnamese film, “Love in Vietnam,” at the prestigious 77th Cannes Film Festival. This new film, based on the novel “Madonna in a Fur Coat,” promises to be an intriguing cross-cultural cinematic endeavor. Reflecting on her experience at Cannes, Avneet said, “Being at Cannes felt unreal. For the first time in my life, I was nervous as it was a huge responsibility to represent your country on an international platform. But it was wonderful that India performed so well at the festival.”
She proudly recounted an endearing moment involving a French woman who congratulated her on Payal Kapadia winning top honors for “All We Imagine as Light” and actor Ansuya Sengupta bagging the best actor award. “When I asked her the reason, she said, ‘Your film won a big award.’ That made me so proud as an Indian,” shared Avneet, beaming with national pride.
Avneet Kaur’s career, spanning 14 years, began on the small screen, from where she made a successful transition to films. Her breakout role came with a significant part in Rani Mukerji’s “Mardaani” in 2014. She acknowledges that the transition from television to films wasn’t an easy path.
. “When I was trying to get into films, so many people told me that it was impossible. But the perception has changed so much,” she said, elaborating on the shift in dynamics within the industry. “I see a camaraderie between actors on TV and in films. The film industry has never been unkind to me for working in television. I am good friends with Varun [Dhawan] and Ananya [Pandey]. They have been very nice to me.”
Reflecting more on her journey, Avneet emphasized the importance of persistence and passion in navigating the intricacies of the entertainment industry. She expressed gratitude towards her peers and mentors who have supported her throughout her career. “Transitioning disciplines, be it within the same industry, is always challenging, but what makes it worthwhile are the experiences and the people you meet along the way,” she noted.
Discussing her future projects, Avneet mentioned that she is committed to embracing versatile roles that challenge her as an actor. Her upcoming film, “Love in Vietnam,” represents this very mindset. The Indo-Vietnamese collaboration is not just a professional milestone but also a cultural bridge that aims to resonate with diverse audiences. “This project is very close to my heart because it merges two rich cultures through the medium of cinema. It’s something I’ve always aspired to be a part of,” she said.
Concluding the conversation, Avneet shared her aspirations and hopes for the future. Her journey from television to international film festivals underscores the tenacity and talent that she brings to the table. “I’m excited about what lies ahead. There are many more stories to tell, and many horizons to explore,” she added, hinting at a promising future in both Bollywood and beyond.
