In a major upheaval in Hyderabad, the Anti-Narcotics Department of Telangana has detained five individuals, including Aman Preet Singh, the brother of Bollywood star Rakul Preet Singh, in a high-profile drug-related case. The arrests took place on Monday morning, following an extensive operation that revealed a significant inflow of cocaine into the city.
Aman Preet Singh, along with four others identified as Aniketh Reddy, Prasad, Madhusudhan, and Nikhil Daman, was taken into custody during a sting operation where authorities intercepted 2.6 kilograms of cocaine destined for sale in Hyderabad. According to the police reports, the bust led to the identification of 30 individuals involved in the drug circuit, with Aman Preet Singh being one of the key customers.
The detainees were subjected to a rigorous medical examination, including urine tests, which returned positive results for cocaine use for all five accused. An official statement from the police noted, “As consumers, we picked up five people and brought them to the police station. In the urine test kit, all of them were found positive. They have been taken into custody. We are now sending them for detailed medical examination.”
During a press conference held later that day in Telangana, officials divulged further details about the case. Among the list of drug consumers, Aman’s name was highlighted. Authorities assured that he would be presented in court shortly. “I will only comment on whom Aman is connected to once we investigate the case more. We need to check when his association began with the accused, who consist of some Indians and Nigerians. Some of them are repeat offenders. But we believe it might be for a year and a half.
. Aman tested positive for using cocaine in the urine test. It is confirmed that he’s an actor, he did not say if it’s on Tollywood or elsewhere,” stated the police during the briefing.
In a press note, the police condemned the affluent drug users who are perpetuating a harmful ecosystem of narcotics in the region. “As of now, 13 consumers from Hyderabad have been identified who are wealthy and are blatantly promoting a sick ecosystem of drugs in Telangana. They are creating a network of supply and demand for drugs in Hyderabad. Out of the 13 consumers, 5 are apprehended, and all the 5 persons tested positive for cocaine when their urine samples were examined,” read the note.
This incident also rekindles attention on Rakul Preet Singh’s previous summons by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in 2021, linked to a separate drug trafficking and consumption investigation. Her statement was recorded as the ED’s probe expanded to include several notable names in the film industry, such as Rana Daggubati, Charmme Kaur, Navdeep, Ravi Teja, and Puri Jagannadh. The ongoing investigation by the ED has been active for the past four years, focusing on dismantling drug trafficking networks and eliminating drug use in the entertainment sector.
