Bollywood Buzz: Celebrations and Milestones

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal are now officially hitched. They solemnised their wedding under the Special Marriages Act in an intimate ceremony at her sea-facing apartment in Bandra, Mumbai. The event, which was only graced by their families and closest friends, marked a significant milestone in their seven-year relationship.

Famed Bollywood personalities, including Shatrughan and Punam Sinha, the Ratnasis, Huma Qureshi, Aditi Rao Hydari and her fiancé Siddharth, Aayush Sharma, and Saqib Saleem, were spotted attending the registration. Earlier in the day, keen-eyed onlookers saw Zaheer Iqbal departing his residence to make his way to Sonakshi’s apartment.

Following the formal registration, the couple took to social media to share their joy with a heartfelt post: “On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017), in each other’s eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today, that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs… leading up to this moment… where with the blessings of both our families and both our gods… we are now man and wife.” They concluded their post on an optimistic note, “Here’s to love, hope and all things beautiful with each other, from now until forever.”

The day was topped off with a grand reception hosted at the upscale Bastian restaurant in Bandra. Celebrities and industry friends gathered to celebrate the newlyweds with what promises to be a memorable evening. Our hearty congratulations to Sonakshi and Zaheer!

In another corner of the entertainment world, aspiring actor Abhay Verma is currently on cloud nine. His film, Munjya, is nearing the coveted R100-crore mark at the box office, with domestic collections sitting at approximately R80 crore. We caught up with Abhay at the Mid-Day Showbiz Icons Awards 2024, where he seemed both ecstatic and bewildered by his burgeoning success. Reflecting on his 12-year-long journey, he likened himself to a child whose wishes were being fulfilled, stating, “I have been wishing for this milestone for the last 12 years. But if it happens, I don’t know what I will do. I am just very happy right now.”

There’s further excitement surrounding Munjya due to a possible crossover with Bhediya (2022), hinted at the film’s end credits. When asked if he might make a cameo in the much-anticipated Stree 2, Abhay responded with gleeful anticipation. “I hope so! That’s a crossover I would personally like,” he beamed. Though plans are not yet confirmed by the producer, Abhay assured, “One thing I can guarantee is that there will be a lot more fun than Munjya.”

. The actor had previously denounced the idea, famously saying, “I will go to Bigg Boss when I think I want to die. Every year they call me and I ask them to call me next year. Luckily, every year I get some work to sail through the year.” In a recent episode, Shorey addressed his change of heart, saying, “I guess it is true what they say—never say never. Here I am, not because I have no work but because life has an interesting way of shaking things up. Sometimes, you just have to embrace the unexpected.”

Adding to the roster of feel-good stories, yesteryear actresses Asha Parekh, Waheeda Rehman, and Helen, who have remained close friends since their golden days, are currently vacationing in Kashmir. They are making the most out of their holiday, relishing the delightful weather and savouring the culinary delicacies of the picturesque state. Their escapades are well-documented on social media, with Asha Parekh sharing a post of herself enjoying a meal with her dear friends Helen and Waheeda in Srinagar. The post garnered lovestruck reactions from fans and celebrities alike, with Raveena Tandon commenting, “How lovely!” along with heart emojis. Finally, in a candid conversation on mid-day’s Sit with Hitlist, Sara Ali Khan opened up about her unique sibling bond with Ibrahim Ali Khan, who is set to debut in Karan Johar’s production, Sarzameen. She recounted their upbringing with a single mother and described the dynamics as more maternal than sibling-like. “I want to apologise to Ibrahim for trying to mother him overtly,” Sara confessed. Despite this, she acknowledged that Ibrahim has been a source of wisdom for her. “He comes to me for advice, but I go to him for advice more often. He is a solid guy. He is more sorted, and mature. I’m academically brighter, but he is really smart.”

In this whirlwind of emotions and celebrations, Bollywood continues to enchant and inspire. From weddings and career milestones to personal revelations and heartwarming vacations, the industry remains a dynamic testament to love, hope, and the power of dreams.
