The actor was hospitalized on October 1 after an unintentional discharge from his legally owned revolver that left him with a bullet wound in his knee. Thankfully, the beloved ‘Hero No. 1’ star has been cleared for discharge and is expected to resume work shortly.
On Friday morning, the media gathered eagerly as Govinda’s wife, Sunita, provided an encouraging update on her husband’s health. “Right now, his health is absolutely fine,” she reassured. “It is due to the blessings of Mata Rani and everyone that he is fine, and in a few days, he will start his work. Sir (Govinda) will leave from here by 12-1 pm today.” Sunita’s words brought a collective sigh of relief to countless fans and well-wishers who had been anxiously following Govinda’s health updates.
The incident took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning, around 4:45 a.m., when Govinda was preparing for a trip to Kolkata. As reported by the Mumbai Police, the actor was attempting to place his revolver back in the cupboard when it slipped from his hand and discharged, striking him in the leg. This explanation was further corroborated by Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, who explained, “Govinda was getting ready to leave for Kolkata and was putting his licensed revolver back in the cupboard when it slipped from his hand, and the gun went off, hitting him in the leg. The doctor has removed the bullet, and his condition is stable. He is still in the hospital.”
Throughout Govinda’s three-day stay at the hospital, a steady stream of visitors arrived to show their support.
