In a shocking revelation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) successfully dismantled a sordid child trafficking syndicate in Delhi, rescuing two newborns in the process. The infants, one merely 15 days old and the other just two days old, were saved during an operation that saw seven suspects detained, including key figures in the trafficking network.
The operation commenced on Friday night, following thorough surveillance and investigations. The CBI’s team, acting on credible information, conducted searches across seven different locations in Delhi and Haryana. This specific raid was a part of a broader crackdown on illegal adoption and child trafficking rings operating within the national capital and nearby regions.

In addition to the boys aged a day and a half and fifteen days, authorities also found a baby girl estimated to be about one month old. According to CBI officials, these infants had been either taken from various locations or obtained specifically for sale. Alarmingly, the authorities confirmed that the individuals arrested included those who facilitated the sale and the prospective buyers.
The detainees, presented before the court, were all remanded to CBI custody. Among those apprehended, two individuals named Indu and Neeraj were identified as the masterminds behind this nefarious network. Preliminary reports indicated this trafficking gang sourced newborns from hospitalised parents or surrogate mothers. Using platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp, they advertised and sought out childless couples willing to engage in illegal adoptions. The entire process was smoothed over by forging necessary adoption paperwork, effectively obscuring the illicit nature of the transactions.
The illicit trade was highly profitable, as infants were sold for amounts ranging between Rs 4 and Rs 6 lakh.

Additionally, the extent of the syndicate’s operations appeared to reach well beyond Delhi NCR, hinting at connections with employees from various prestigious hospitals across different states. Shockingly, one of the ringleaders was identified as a government official, serving in the capacity of Assistant Labour Commissioner.
