She believes that if the film were released in the present day, it would have garnered a completely different response, potentially catapulting her to superstardom. “If Rocket Singh had to release today, I would probably have been the next superstar to hit the market,” she stated, reflecting on the industry’s evolving landscape. During the film’s first screening at YRF Studios, Rishi Kapoor notably praised her performance, highlighting her natural portrayal of a receptionist. “I remember Rishi ji pointed at me and said ‘Baaki sab choro, baaki sab choro. Yeh ladki, she is the best thing in the film. The way she picks up calls in the film, it does not look like she’s acting.’ I was awe-struck that Rishi ji was talking about me!” Gauahar shared, adding how he spoke about her performance for an impressive 45 minutes.
Despite the high praise from such a respected figure, “Rocket Singh” did not achieve the commercial success it deserved, as Gauahar believes the film’s release did not align with the industry’s readiness for a story so grounded and realistic. She praised the film’s director Shimit Amin and scriptwriter Jaideep Sahni for recognizing and nurturing her raw talent.
