Renowned rapper-singer Honey Singh, known for his infectious beats and catchy lyrics, recently divulged some rather intriguing details about one of his most popular songs, ‘Sunny Sunny’ from the film ‘Yaariyan.’ Despite its whopping 390 million views on YouTube, Singh casually labeled it as the “stupidest song” he’s ever written.
During an interview with The Lallantop, Singh was asked if the song ‘Sunny Sunny’ was penned in haste. To this, the rapper admitted that the writing and recording process took him merely two hours. “The most stupid song I have ever written in my life is ‘Blue Hai Paani Paani’. Yeh koi gana hai? Aaj blue hai pani pani aur din bhi sunny sunny. Yeh koi gana hai, bakwas hai yeh toh. Sachi bataoon toh sare gaane dekho, tuk hai koi? Sar pair hai? Gana hai ‘Brown Rang’ mujhe samajh mein aata hai, tareeke se likha hua. ‘Blue Eyes’ hai, tareef ho rahi hai husna ki,” he said, translating to, “Is this even a song? Honestly, just look at all these songs, do any of them make sense? Do they have any head or tail? The song ‘Brown Rang’ makes sense to me; it’s written properly. ‘Blue Eyes’ is a praise of beauty.”
Although ‘Sunny Sunny’ lacks the depth and sophistication of some of his other hits like ‘Brown Rang’ or ‘Blue Eyes,’ its infectious chorus and vibrant energy struck a chord with audiences, propelling it to become a massive hit. The song encapsulates the essence of fun and frolic, qualities that resonate deeply with listeners looking for light-hearted, feel-good music.
Honey Singh’s candid revelation has sparked discussions among fans and music critics about what constitutes meaningful music and the artist’s interpretation of his own work. It poses an interesting question about the role of spontaneity in music creation and whether songs produced hurriedly can match the quality and impact of those meticulously crafted over time.
In addition to his reflections on ‘Sunny Sunny,’ Honey Singh has been busy with other significant projects.
. He is set to release a new album titled ‘Glory.’ The upcoming album promises to be a unique blend of genres and styles, featuring collaborations with artists from Latin America, Western Europe, and Indian folk singers. It features behind-the-scenes moments, candid conversations with family members, friends, and music collaborators who have supported him through his tumultuous journey in the music industry. The documentary not only celebrates his successes but also delves into the challenges he faced, offering a comprehensive view of the man behind the music.
Honey Singh’s candid disclosure about ‘Sunny Sunny’ and his subsequent projects underscore his multifaceted nature as an artist.
