The long-awaited debut of Hyderabad-based Band Vivid has finally arrived. Musicians Rishabh Naidu and Krishna Praneeth have recently released their first original track, “Kalla Kalla,” on Spotify. The song, which takes its name from the Punjabi word ‘Kalla,’ meaning ‘alone,’ encapsulates the torment of unrequited love. Rishabh brings this sentiment to life with his commanding voice while Praneeth provides the instrumental depth with his guitar.
“Kalla Kalla” stands as a testament to the evolving journey of Band Vivid, a group that has transformed significantly since its inception in 2016. According to Praneeth, who also works as a music teacher at Shantiniketan International School in Bachupally and joined the band in February 2023, the band’s lineup has seen numerous changes. Initially conceived as a platform for hobby musicians to jam and perform their favorite tunes, the band’s vision has evolved in tandem with its changing roster. With the current lineup, both Rishabh and Praneeth aim to expand their horizons by increasing their live performances and creating more original music.
At concerts, Rishabh takes on the role of the main vocalist while Praneeth, who goes by the stage name ReBeLlIoN, plays bass guitar and provides backing vocals. The duo also employs drum pedals during their performances, ensuring a full and dynamic sound. Discussing their collaborative process, Praneeth reveals, “We always discuss how we want the story, lyrics, and tune of the song to unfold. While I struggle to write fluently in Hindi, I contribute my ideas, and Rishabh takes it from there.” The duo’s collaborative efforts culminated in “Kalla,” a Punjabi song tinged with hints of Hindi that delves into the emotional depths of a relationship’s heartbreaking end.
