Mumbai: The cherished memory of the 1989 television masterpiece ‘Fauji’ is set to make a grand comeback into Indian living rooms with a fresh take titled ‘Fauji 2.’ This eagerly awaited revival of the series, which introduced the iconic Shah Rukh Khan to the entertainment world, aims to recapture its past glory with a modern twist. The national broadcaster, Doordarshan, has joined forces with filmmaker Sandeep Singh to reimagine and resurrect this classic TV show for a contemporary audience.
Sandeep Singh, known for his innovative storytelling, is enthusiastic about this project, highlighting it as a crucial step in television programming. “We are bringing back one of the greatest shows ever seen on television but in a new and exciting version. The 1989 ‘Fauji’ gave us Shah Rukh Khan, who captivated the entire nation with his extraordinary energy and talent. With ‘Fauji 2,’ I hope to recreate history and connect with every Indian, especially the youth,” Singh detailed in an official press statement.
The reboot will spotlight ‘Bigg Boss 17’ star Vikas Jain, who takes on the role of Colonel Sanjay Singh, alongside actress Gauahar Khan, portraying Lieutenant Colonel Simarjeet Kaur, a cadet trainer with a specialty in weaponry. Moreover, Singh’s ambitious vision introduces an array of fresh faces to the television scene. The 12 new actors have been meticulously selected from diverse regions across India, adding authenticity and depth to the cast.
These talents include Aashish Bhardwaj as Daksh Desai from Surat, Utkarsh Kohli as Rangrez Phogat from Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, Rudra Soni as Harun Malik from Srinagar, Ayaan Manchanda as Aakash Chhetri from Darjeeling, and Niel Satpuda as Vijay Sachan from Kanpur. Also joining this strong ensemble are Suvansh Dhar as Abhimanyu Rai from Deolal in Maharashtra, Priyanshu Rajguru as Subbu Balakrishnan from Chennai, Aman Singh Deep as Vikram Singh Bagga from Chandigarh, Udit Kapur as Arjun Negi from New Delhi, Maansi as Kavya Rajadhyaksha from Deolali, Maharashtra, and Sushmita Bhandari as Kinjal Joshi from Surat.

The excitement surrounding the series is palpable, as echoed by Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO of Doordarshan. “When we came across the concept of ‘Fauji 2,’ it took us no time to begin working on this iconic project. The show will be on-air very soon, and we are ecstatic to bring the magic of ‘Fauji’ back to the Indian audience,” Dwivedi remarked.
Enhancing the auditory appeal of ‘Fauji 2,’ the series features celebrated singer Sonu Nigam lending his voice to the series’ title track. The show boasts an ensemble music score with 11 songs crafted by Filmfare Award-winning music director Shreyas Puranik, alongside contributions from talented musicians Shashi Suman and Jazim Sharma.
Spearheading the production, Sandeep Singh collaborates with co-producers Vicky Jain and Zafar Mehdi. The writing team, featuring Amarnath Jha, Vishal Chaturvedi, Anil Choudhary, and Chaitanya Tulsyan, promises an engaging script. ‘Fauji 2’ marks the directorial debut of Abhinav Pareek, bringing new vision and energy to the franchise.
