Juhi Chawla Shares Why She Prefers to Avoid Watching IPL with Shah Rukh Khan

Amid the excitement and adrenaline that characterizes the Indian Premier League, actress-turned-entrepreneur Juhi Chawla shared an amusing yet candid insight into her experiences watching the high-stakes cricket matches alongside fellow Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner, Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan.

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), a prominent team in the IPL, has brought together not only a team of skilled players but also a union of stars in the form of Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, and her spouse Jay Mehta, who co-own the franchise. While the trio is often spotted in the stands offering moral support to their team, Juhi Chawla recently revealed in an interview with IANS why she tends to keep her distance from Shah Rukh Khan during the matches.

According to Chawla, Shah Rukh Khan’s passion for the game turns into an outburst of emotions that often finds its way to her when the team doesn’t meet expectations. “It is not good to watch a match with him because when our team is not performing well, he vents out his anger at me. I tell him to tell that to the team and not me. So we are not the best people to watch the match with. I think the same goes for a lot of owners. They all can be seen sweating while their teams play,” explained Juhi.

Further elaborating on the experience, the actress described the tension that pervades among team owners when the stakes are high, stating, “When our team plays, it is interesting to watch them, and we all are highly tense. IPL is always exciting. We all are in front of our television sets.”

This personal anecdote adds a layer of relatability to the celebrities who, despite their larger-than-life personas, are just as involved and emotionally invested as any dedicated fan when it comes to the fate of their beloved team.

Shah Rukh Khan himself, not one to shy away from expressing his support, recently made his way to the City of Joy – Kolkata. On a pleasant Saturday evening, he landed with the intention of witnessing his team take on the Sun Risers Hyderabad at the historic Eden Gardens. His entry into the city did not go unnoticed as fans, embracing his presence, took to social media to share photos and videos of his arrival. Amidst this fanfare, Shah Rukh, embodying a relaxed demeanour in a casual tee and jeans while flaunting a suave man-bun, acknowledged the crowd with a friendly wave before making his way to the stadium—where he was spotted relishing his time with a hot beverage at hand.

Parallel to his cricketing ventures, Shah Rukh Khan continues to make waves in the cinema industry. The star recently lent his unmistakable voice to narrate the announcement video for rapper Badshah’s studio album ‘Ek Tha Raja,’ marking the 12th anniversary of Badshah’s influential journey in the music industry and celebrating the artist’s innovative flair. The album is anticipated to feature an impressive array of collaborations across 16 tracks.

Additionally, Shah Rukh graced the silver screen in his latest film ‘Dunki,’ which boasts a robust ensemble cast including Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover, each embodying vibrant characters that complement Shah Rukh Khan’s compelling performance.

As Shah Rukh Khan juggles his pursuits in both sports and entertainment, and Juhi Chawla candidly shares the behind-the-scenes dynamics of watching a beloved sport, fans get a glimpse into the lives of these icons—a combination of glamour, responsibility, and profound human emotion, perfectly mirrored by the rollercoaster ride that is the Indian Premier League.
