Kangana Ranaut Reflects on Marriage Struggles Amidst Legal Controversies

Bollywood actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for the release of her highly anticipated film, ‘Emergency.’ Beyond her cinematic endeavors, Ranaut has been vocal about various personal and social issues. In a recent appearance on the popular talk show, Aap Ki Adalat, she opened up about her views on marriage and the challenges she faces on this personal front, largely due to the negative publicity she has garnered over the years.

Kangana Ranaut has always been straightforward and candid in expressing her thoughts. During her interview, when asked about her perspective on marriage, the 38-year-old actress shared that while she holds a positive view on the institution, it has been difficult for her to settle down. “Kya kahu main ab iss bare mein? Dekhiye, meri shaadi ko leke bahut acche khayal hai… mujhe lagta hai ki har ek ko companion ki zaroorat hoti hai,” she said, acknowledging the importance of companionship. (What do I say about this? My views on marriage are very good. I feel everyone should have a companion.)

The actress went on to elaborate about her desire for a family and children but lamented the infamy that surrounds her, which she believes plays a significant role in sabotaging her prospects. “Mujhe lagta hai bachhe hone chahiye, lekin ab logo ne itna badnam kar rakha hai, meri shaadi nahi hone dete hai,” she noted. (I feel people should have kids too, but I have been made so infamous that I am not able to marry.)

Ranaut humorously recounted an incident where prospective in-laws were scared away by the arrival of police summons. “Ek baar toh hone wale saas-sasur bhi mere ghar pe the aur woh summon aa gaye, toh phir woh bhag gaye. Ye bhi ek side effect hai. Nahi, mazak kar rahi hoon,” she shared, smiling. (Once, my to-be in-laws ran away after seeing me being summoned. This is also a side-effect of all that I face. No, I am just joking.)

Despite the levity with which she addressed the issue, it’s apparent that Ranaut has faced significant hurdles owing to her high-profile legal battles and controversies, making it tough to find a life partner.

In addition to her personal life, Kangana’s professional endeavors have also faced obstacles. Her directorial project, ‘Emergency,’ which sees her portraying former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, was originally set for release on September 6, 2024, but has now been delayed. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the postponement on social media, stating, “#BreakingNews.

The delay comes amid complications with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). On August 30, Ranaut posted a video on social media explaining the situation. “Kayi tarah ki afwahein ud rahi hain ki humari film Emergency ko censor certificate mil gaya hai. It is not true. In fact, humari film clear ho gayi thi lekin uski certification rok li gayi hai kyuki bohot zyada dhamkiya aa rhi hain jaan se maaar dene ki censor waalo ko,” she revealed. (There have been rumors circulating that my film Emergency has been certified by the Censor Board. This is not true. While our film did receive clearance from the CBFC, the certification was delayed due to numerous death threats against members of the censor board.)

The threats have put significant pressure on the team to alter the depiction of historical events in the film. “Toh humpe ye pressure hai ki Mrs Gandhi ki assassination na dikhayein, Bhindrewala ko na dikhayein, Punjab riots na dikhayein. I don’t know ki fir kya dikhayein ki film achanak se black out ho jaati hai,” Kangana lamented. (This has put pressure on us not to depict the assassination of Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Bhindrawale, and the Punjab riots in the film. This raises the question – what can I actually show in the film? That the film blacks out all of a sudden. This is an unbelievable time for me and I am very sorry for the state of things in this country.)

As ‘Emergency’ faces these hurdles, there is no concrete update on the new release date, leaving fans and critics eagerly waiting for further announcements. Kangana Ranaut continues to navigate the complexities of her personal and professional lives with resilience, maintaining her position as one of Bollywood’s most talked-about personalities.
