Kangana Ranaut to Lead New Film ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’ as She Awaits ‘Emergency’ Certification

Mumbai: Amid anticipation surrounding the release of her much-awaited political drama ‘Emergency,’ starring as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Kangana Ranaut has another significant project on her hands. Directed by Manoj Tapadia, the film titled ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’ has been officially announced. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh broke the news on social media platform X, highlighting Kangana’s leading role in the new film.

“KANGANA RANAUT TO STAR IN ‘BHARAT BHHAGYA VIDDHAATA’… #KanganaRanaut will essay the central role in #BharatBhhagyaViddhaata… The film will showcase the remarkable stories of ordinary people and their extraordinary achievements,” wrote Adarsh, adding immense buzz to the widely-followed actress’s career trajectory.

Directed and written by Manoj Tapadia, ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’ is set to be a tribute to the unsung heroes of India – the working class, whose tireless efforts keep the nation’s machinery running seamlessly. The film will be produced by Babita Ashiwal from Eunoia Films and Adi Sharmaa of Floating Rocks Entertainment. In a statement released by the film’s team, producer Babita Ashiwal expressed her enthusiasm for the project and her confidence in Kangana’s performance.

“Working on this project has been incredibly rewarding. Our goal is to create content that captivates our audience. With Kangana on board, we are confident the movie will strike the right chord,” Ashiwal shared. She further elaborated on the film’s focus, specifying that it aims to celebrate and spotlight the invaluable contributions of everyday individuals who tirelessly work behind the scenes, ensuring the country’s functionality and progress.

Team members have reiterated that the film intends to harness a narrative that celebrates the everyday heroism often overlooked in mainstream stories. This new venture signals another partnership between Kangana and narratives that delve into significant social issues, similar to her previous works that have typically drawn public and critical attention for their bold storytelling and robust performances.

Meanwhile, as Kangana prepares for ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata,’ she’s dealing with the complexities surrounding the release of her existing project ‘Emergency’. This political drama navigates through one of India’s most controversial times, depicting the 21-month period of emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi from 1975 to 1977. However, the film awaits certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

In recent updates shared on social media, Kangana disclosed that despite earlier reports, ‘Emergency’ has not yet received final clearance from the CBFC.

. The certification process is currently stalled, attributed to severe backlash and threats that have targeted members of the Censor Board. “There have been rumours circulating that my film Emergency has been certified by the Censor Board. This is not true. While our film did receive clearance from the CBFC, the certification was on hold due to numerous death threats against members of the censor board,” Kangana revealed.

Further, she highlighted the extensive pressure being applied to censor politically significant scenes such as the assassination of Indira Gandhi and the Punjab riots. “There is pressure being put on us to remove certain scenes, such as the assassination of Indira Gandhi, the Punjab riots, and more. Now, I don’t know what else to show. What are we supposed to do—blackout the film during these scenes? This is unbelievable to me, and I am deeply sorry for the current state of thinking in this country,” Kangana voiced.

‘Emergency’ also features prominent actors such as Anupam Kher and the late Satish Kaushik. Initially slated for a release on September 6, the film now faces an uncertain timeline, adding to the array of challenges the team must navigate.

These dual endeavors exhibit the ongoing dynamism in Kangana’s professional life. On one hand, ‘Emergency’ delves into the historical intricacies and political turmoils that marked a significant chapter in India’s post-independence history. On the other, ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’ aims to shine a spotlight on the everyday champions who labor behind the scenes to keep the nation moving forward.

As audiences await the resolution concerning ‘Emergency’s release, the announcement of ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’ offers fresh excitement and perhaps a gentler narrative in comparison to the political gravity of ‘Emergency’. With Kangana Ranaut at the helm, expectations run high for both projects to deliver compelling stories that resonate deeply with viewers.

It remains to be seen how these two vastly different films will unfold and impact the cinematic landscape, especially considering Kangana’s reputation for choosing bold, innovative scripts. As the buzz builds, the audience waits in eager anticipation for the jam-packed releases from the Bollywood powerhouse.
