Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut is set to headline a newly announced project titled ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’, even as her previous film ‘Emergency’ awaits clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The official announcement was made on Tuesday by trade analyst Taran Adarsh through his social media platform, X.
“KANGANA RANAUT TO STAR IN ‘BHARAT BHHAGYA VIDDHAATA’… #KanganaRanaut will essay the central role in #BharatBhhagyaViddhaata… The film will showcase the remarkable stories of ordinary people and their extraordinary achievements,” wrote Adarsh.
The film, directed and written by Manoj Tapadia, will delve into the lives of the common people whose work is integral to the functioning of the country—the working-class heroes, the blue-collar employees. The project is being produced by Babita Ashiwal of Eunoia Films and Adi Sharmaa of Floating Rocks Entertainment.
In a statement released by the film’s team, Babita Ashiwal expressed her enthusiasm about working with Kangana. “Working on this project has been incredibly rewarding. Our goal is to create content that captivates our audience. With Kangana on board, we are confident the movie will strike the right chord,” she said.
As per the filmmakers, ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’ aims to spotlight the invaluable contributions of everyday individuals who work tirelessly behind the scenes. The narrative will focus on these unsung heroes whose efforts often go unnoticed but are essential to the country’s growth and stability.
Meanwhile, Kangana is gearing up for the release of her highly anticipated political drama, ‘Emergency’. This film explores the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who imposed a 21-month emergency period from 1975 to 1977. However, ‘Emergency’ is currently facing delays due to certification issues with the CBFC.
.
Last week, Kangana took to social media to clarify the status of ‘Emergency’. Despite earlier reports suggesting that the film had received clearance from the CBFC, she disclosed that the certification is still on hold.
“There have been rumours circulating that my film ‘Emergency’ has been certified by the Censor Board. This is not true. While our film did receive clearance from the CBFC, the certification was on hold due to numerous death threats against members of the censor board,” Kangana explained.
She further added, “There is pressure being put on us to remove certain scenes, such as the assassination of Indira Gandhi, the Punjab riots, and more. Now, I don’t know what else to show. What are we supposed to do—blackout the film during these scenes? This is unbelievable to me, and I am deeply sorry for the current state of thinking in this country.”
The film ‘Emergency’ also stars Anupam Kher and the late Satish Kaushik. It was initially slated for a release on September 6, but the ongoing issues with certification have pushed the release date further into uncertainty.
Kangana’s concern about the censorship of her film reflects broader issues within the film industry, where political and cultural sensitivities often clash with creative expression. As the debate over ‘Emergency’ continues, fans are eagerly waiting to see how the narrative unfolds.
Babita Ashiwal’s belief in ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’ and her praise for Kangana’s involvement underscore the actress’s enduring appeal and influence in Bollywood. Kangana, known for her versatile acting skills and bold choices, brings a certain gravitas to projects she chooses to be part of. Her involvement in the new project is expected to draw significant attention and anticipation.
The announcement of ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’ adds another layer to Kangana’s impressive portfolio, which already includes critically acclaimed and commercially successful films. It also highlights her continuing commitment to projects that have substantial social and cultural relevance.
In conclusion, while Kangana awaits the resolution of the certification issues surrounding ‘Emergency’, the announcement of ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’ offers a new avenue for the actress to shine. As the film promises to highlight the extraordinary contributions of ordinary people, it stands to resonate deeply with audiences, capturing the essence of India’s unsung heroes.
