Katrina’s Unique Approach to Karwa Chauth with Vicky Kaushal

In a captivating revelation, Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal, currently promoting his upcoming film “Bad Newz,” shared an amusing anecdote about his first Karwa Chauth with his wife, the renowned actress Katrina Kaif. The couple, who tied the knot in December 2021 in a private ceremony that kept fans and media at bay, had a delightful first experience of the celebrated festival, thanks to some unexpected assistance from Google.

Vicky provided this amusing insight during an interview with Film Companion, highlighting Katrina’s curiosity about the moon’s timings on their inaugural Karwa Chauth. This festival, deeply rooted in Indian traditions, is predominantly celebrated by Hindu married women. It involves fasting from dawn till the moonrise to ensure the long and healthy life of their husbands. The day’s rituals start with a pre-dawn meal known as Sargi, which the women receive from their mothers-in-law.

The festival is marked by strict observance of a ‘nirjala’ fast, where women abstain from both food and water for the entire day. The moon plays a pivotal role as women break their fast only after sighting it through a sieve, followed by offering Arghaya (water) to the moon, then taking a morsel of food and water from their husbands’ hands.

In a humorous tone, Vicky referred to Katrina as the “Google Queen,” narrating how she relied on the search engine to predict the moon’s appearance. He recounted, “I am okay with keeping a fast. As actors, we often undergo diet restrictions, so being an actor definitely helps in such situations. But Katrina is a Google queen. She asked Google when she’d see the moon. Google suggested 8:30 pm. I told her the moon won’t follow Google’s instructions; it will come when it decides. Google can’t predict the movement of clouds.”

As the night unfolded, Vicky narrated how the anticipated time passed without a sight of the moon. “There was a delay, and she started saying, ‘It hasn’t come.’ I joked that it’s not like I can summon it.

. It will appear when it wishes. She was perfectly fine until the Google-predicted time of 8:30 pm; after that, she began feeling the pangs of hunger,” Vicky added with a chuckle.

While Vicky Kaushal is basking in this light-hearted memory, his professional life also sees an upswing with his next film, “Bad Newz,” set to release on July 19. The film, directed by Anand Tiwari, stars Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk alongside Vicky, and it’s generating buzz for being a potential spiritual successor to the 2019 blockbuster “Good Newwz,” which featured notable actors like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani, and Diljit Dosanjh.

“Bad Newz” is expected to offer audiences an emotional rollercoaster ride, infused with a healthy dose of humor. The film’s trailer suggests a comedic yet poignant narrative, with an ensemble cast poised to deliver strong performances.

Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal’s marriage in 2021 was one of the most talked-about events in Bollywood. They managed to keep their relationship under wraps, rarely making joint appearances in public before their wedding. When they finally revealed their nuptial bond, it sent their fans into a frenzy of celebration.

Katrina, a leading actress in Bollywood, has made a significant mark with her performances in films like “Ek Tha Tiger,” “Jab Tak Hai Jaan,” and “Bharat.” Her dedication to her personal and professional life continues to inspire her huge fan base. Vicky Kaushal, on his part, has earned accolades for his works in movies like “Uri: The Surgical Strike,” “Sardar Udham,” and “Raazi,” establishing himself as a versatile actor known for taking on challenging roles.

The couple’s first Karwa Chauth story brings a blend of cultural tradition and modern-day humor to the fore. It subtly highlights how traditions such as Karwa Chauth remain significant yet adapt seamlessly into contemporary lives, aided sometimes by a little help from technology.

The lively banter between Vicky and Katrina, underscored by their reliance on Google for something as age-old as Karwa Chauth, mirrors a modern touch to traditional celebrations. It serves as a relatable anecdote for many couples who navigate the balance between maintaining traditions and using contemporary tools to do so.

As fans eagerly anticipate “Bad Newz,” Vicky’s reflections on his personal life add a layer of relatability and charm to his public persona. The story of their first Karwa Chauth stands out as a delightful testament to the confluence of love, tradition, and a hint of modern-day practicality.
