Prime Minister Modi Showcases India’s Vision at G7 Summit in Italy


Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday, shared key moments from his notable participation in the G7 Summit held in Italy, articulating that he successfully presented India’s perspective on the global stage.

A video presentation shared by PM Modi highlighted various significant moments from his visit to Italy, starting from his arrival, where he was cordially received by the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, to his active involvement in the summit held in the scenic city of Apulia.

The video commenced with a heartwarming moment as PM Meloni greeted PM Modi with a traditional ‘namaste’. The two leaders, radiating camaraderie, then posed for a photograph under the lens of numerous cameras, symbolizing the strong diplomatic ties between India and Italy.

One of the notable segments of the video documented PM Modi’s bilateral meetings with several eminent world leaders on the sidelines of the G7 Summit. Here are highlights.” He affirmed his return to Delhi on Saturday after participating in the G7 Summit, which was hosted in Apulia at the invitation of Italian PM Giorgia Meloni.

This year’s G7 Summit, where India was an ‘Outreach Country,’ saw active participation from the seven member nations—the USA, UK, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, and France—alongside the European Union. Notably, this was India’s 11th attendance and PM Modi’s fifth consecutive participation in the G7 Summit, underscoring India’s significant and consistent role in such global forums.

During the summit, PM Modi reiterated India’s unwavering dedication to the well-being of the Global South, underscoring the critical importance of Africa in global affairs.

. He highlighted India’s commitment to fostering strong ties with Africa, mentioning the significant milestone when the African Union became a permanent member of the G20 under India’s presidency.

In his address at the G7 Outreach Session, focusing on AI and energy, Africa, and the Mediterranean, PM Modi elaborated on several transformative topics. He emphasized the pivotal role of technology in human progress, citing India’s efforts in leveraging Artificial Intelligence for development while stressing the necessity for AI to remain transparent, secure, accessible, and responsible.

Acknowledging the pressing need for robust cybersecurity in an era of widespread technological use, PM Modi illustrated India’s initiatives in this domain. He further detailed India’s comprehensive approach towards energy, which focuses on four key aspects: availability, accessibility, affordability, and acceptability. He reaffirmed India’s steadfast commitment to meeting its Climate Change Conference of the Parties (CoP) goals ahead of schedule and highlighted India’s efforts in transitioning towards a sustainable, green future, guided by the principles of Mission LiFE.

Moreover, PM Modi brought attention to the “Ek Ped Ma Ke Naam” campaign. This initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability and ensure a habitable planet for future generations. “As far as energy is concerned, India’s approach is based on availability, accessibility, affordability, and acceptability. We are working to fulfill our CoP commitments before the designated time period. India is working to usher in a Green Era, based on the principles of Mission LiFE. Also, highlighted the campaign ‘Ek Ped Ma Ke Naam’ to make our planet more sustainable,” PM Modi shared in a post on X.

Upon concluding his visit to Italy, PM Modi expressed satisfaction, stating, “Had a very productive day at the G7 Summit in Apulia. Interacted with world leaders and discussed various subjects. Together, we aim to create impactful solutions that benefit the global community and create a better world for future generations.” He also extended his gratitude to the people and government of Italy for their warm hospitality.

Italy, which extended the invitation to PM Modi for the G7 Summit Outreach Sessions, holds the position of India’s fourth-largest trading partner within the European Union, with bilateral trade currently amounting to USD 15 billion.
