Renowned Bengali filmmaker Arindam Sil has found himself at the center of a serious controversy as the Directors’ Association of Eastern India (DAEI) suspended him following allegations of sexual misconduct made by an actress. “Due to certain allegations made against you, and prima facie evidence we have with us, which are of deep concern and are maligning to the entire organization, DAEI has decided to suspend you from membership for an indefinite period or until the allegations against you are cleared,” stated the letter signed by DAEI president Subrata Sen and secretary Sudeshna Roy.

After the particular incident, the actress concerned willingly took part in the shoot for four more hours,” he elaborated, arguing that her willingness to continue filming suggested she did not immediately perceive any wrongdoing.
The DAEI secretary indicated that the decision was not made lightly.
