Rohit Saraf Clarifies: ‘Ishq Vishk Rebound’ is a Fresh Story Not a Remake or Sequel

Actor Rohit Saraf, who is set to take center stage in the eagerly anticipated film “Ishq Vishk Rebound,” has unequivocally stated that the new film is neither a sequel nor a remake of the original “Ishq Vishk,” a film that debuted Shahid Kapoor into the acting world. Released in 2003, the first “Ishq Vishk” was a surprising box-office success and garnered positive feedback from both critics and moviegoers, predominantly for its engaging soundtrack. Directed by Ken Ghosh, the film also starred Amrita Rao and Shenaz Treasurywala alongside Shahid Kapoor.

Saraf spoke candidly to reporters during a promotional event for the film, emphasizing the novelty of the storyline. “It is not a remake or sequel of Ishq Vishk. The thing common between the two films is that they belong to the same franchise. But it’s a new story altogether, a love story about Gen Z,” Saraf clarified.

Marathi filmmaker Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari has helmed “Ishq Vishk Rebound,” injecting fresh energy and contemporary sensibilities into this Gen Z love story. For Saraf, this role represents a rare opportunity for a young actor to shine in a movie that carries legacy yet stands uniquely on its own. “I don’t want to dilute that by putting pressure on myself. There are people around me talking about the pressure, now I feel I should start taking the pressure,” he admitted with a laugh, acknowledging the weight of expectations surrounding the release.

Adding nostalgia to the film, the new version of the title track “Ishq Vishk” was recently launched and features Saraf, alongside Pashmina Roshan, Jibraan Khan, and Naila Grewal.

. For Saraf, who catapulted to fame with Netflix’s romantic comedy series “Mismatched,” and has marked his presence in films like “Ludo,” “The Sky is Pink,” and the Hindi version of “Vikram Vedha,” being part of the title track evokes a sense of dream-like accomplishment.

“I grew up listening to Ishq Vishk songs and it’s bizarre to now feature in the new version of the song,” Saraf exclaimed. “It is a dream come true; the title song has a legacy. I’m still a fanboy over what Shahid did in the song and to be able to do that is a sheer blessing.”

Parallelly, Pashmina Roshan, Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan’s cousin, expressed her views on being part of the Roshan family’s illustrious filmmaking legacy. “The pride, the luck, their support and advice are what I’ve had, but the pressure is to live up to their standards, to their body of work, and to make a place for myself in the industry and in the hearts of the audience,” said Pashmina, articulating her hopes and the responsibilities she carries.

“Ishq Vishk Rebound” also boasts an intriguing cast including Jibraan Khan, widely recognized for his role as a child artist in “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,” and Naila Grewal, who previously showcased her talents in “Mamla Legal Hai.”

Produced by Ramesh Taurani and co-produced by Jaya Taurani under the banner Tips Films Limited, the film promises not just to reignite the magic associated with the “Ishq Vishk” name but to transport audiences into a contemporary narrative that resonates deeply with today’s generation. “Ishq Vishk Rebound” is set to hit theatres on June 21, marking it as one of the much-talked-about releases of the year within the realm of Hindi cinema.

In conclusion, while “Ishq Vishk Rebound” leverages the nostalgic value of its predecessor, it forges its own path by appealing to the sensibilities of Gen Z viewers, blending tradition with modernity. As fans await the release date, the buzz around this film continues to heighten, promising not only an engaging storyline but also compelling performances by a new generation of actors who are very much aware of the big shoes they are stepping into.
