In a grand collaboration between Tiger Baby and Emaho Films, with the support of the lauded Oscar-winning HHMI Tangled Bank Studios, “Turtle Walker,” a visually arresting documentary, is set to captivate audiences at its premiere during DOC NYC 2024 on November 17. This film, directed by Taira Malaney, presents an inspiring and engaging narrative centered around Satish Bhaskar, often revered as the “Father of Sea Turtle Conservation” in India. His unwavering dedication to protecting sea turtles and nurturing the ocean’s biodiversity has left a lasting legacy that continues to inspire conservation efforts worldwide.

What began as a modest independent initiative on the shores of Goa burgeoned into a seven-year global co-production endeavor that now involves international partnerships, a testimony to the documentary’s broad and growing influence. Submarine Deluxe has acquired the sales rights for the film, indicating its promising distribution reach.

These awards are often equated to the Oscars of nature and conservation filmmaking, underscoring the film’s impactful narrative and visual storytelling. Director Taira Malaney has herself earned significant recognition in the film industry, including the “Best Natural History and Wildlife Pitch” accolade at Sunny Side of the Doc in 2019 and the “Emerging Filmmaker Award” at DocEdge Kolkata in 2018, further validating her storytelling prowess and the documentary’s imminent success.
