Vicky Kaushal, hailed as one of India’s finest actors, has marked a significant milestone by completing 12 illustrious years in Hindi cinema. However, the journey to stardom was far from easy for the National Award-winning actor, who recalls a time when securing even a 15-second advertisement seemed like an unattainable dream. Reflecting on his 12-year-long journey, Vicky Kaushal shared that he often feels as though he is living in a “dream sequence.”
“It feels surreal and magical. It feels like I am still in a dream sequence and I don’t want to wake up. It really feels like that because when I had started and the audition pictures that I had put, I was just wanting a chance,” Vicky said in a heartfelt moment. The actor, who gained significant recognition with his stellar performance in “Uri: The Surgical Strike” in 2019, shared how these modest beginnings have shaped his perspective on success.
“Of course, everyone dreams of being in the main lead and being the hero,” Vicky Kaushal added. At 36, the actor is now a household name, revered for his versatility and on-screen charisma. But his journey was paved with uncertainty and setbacks. The national heartthrob recounted a time when even a minor role in an advertisement was a cause for celebration.
“There was a time I was not even getting a 15-second ad film and I was like, ‘If I get an ad film, I will throw a party.’ From there to here in 12 years, if somebody had said to me back then that you would work with these kinds of filmmakers, films, co-stars and these films would get love… I would laugh,” said Vicky, reflecting on his journey.
He continued, “I would have been like, even if I get 10 percent of this it’s enough for me. I have been very fortunate to work with the kind of filmmakers I got to, and I still believe that God has written beautiful things for all of us and I truly believe this is just the beginning.”
Kaushal’s rise to prominence is undoubtedly a testament to his talent, dedication, and resilience.
. Amidst a highly competitive industry, his journey stands out as an inspirational tale of perseverance. He was recently in the national capital promoting his latest comedy film “Bad Newz,” where the song “Tauba Tauba” featuring Kaushal has gone viral since its release.
When asked about the role choreographers play in contributing to a song’s success, Kaushal was unequivocal in his praise. “110 percent because I am myself a technician’s son. My father was an action director so I know what kind of efforts go by people behind the camera. People who are talking about the step in ‘Tauba Tauba’ was given to me by Bosco,” Kaushal said, urging the industry to recognize the behind-the-scenes talent that brings films and music to life.
He was candid in his acknowledgment of the unsung heroes of cinema. “I think absolutely every person standing behind the camera is the real heroes, who build whatever is happening in front of the camera… because we are in front of the cameras, the first praise or criticism, we get it first.” He emphasized that while actors often receive the glory, it is the crew who make the magic happen. “But they are really the heroes. It takes an army to create a song or film. They should be applauded, if not more,” Vicky concluded.
Scheduled for release on July 19, “Bad Newz” is one of Kaushal’s most awaited films, with fans eager to see the actor bring his unique flair to the comedy genre. The actor’s reflections on his career not only resonate with aspiring artists but also highlight the collaborative spirit of filmmaking, reminding audiences that every piece of art is the result of countless unseen hands working in unison.
This thought-provoking reflection on his 12-year career underlines Vicky Kaushal’s remarkable journey in the Hindi film industry, a journey characterized by determination, talent, and a deep appreciation for the collaborative nature of cinema.
