In an intriguing development for fans of Indian cinema, actor Vineet Kumar Singh is set to reunite with acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap for an upcoming film. This news comes hot on the heels of their previous collaboration in the 2018 film “Mukkabaaz.” In a recent interview with PTI, Singh disclosed that he is currently immersed in training for his role, which involves learning wrestling, a stark departure from his past performances.

“Right now, I am working with Anurag (Kashyap) sir… It’s a different kind of film. I am learning wrestling. And the shoot is going on. The first schedule is done,” the actor shared, highlighting the intense preparatory phase he is undergoing for this unique role.

Vineet Kumar Singh is no stranger to rigorous training regimes. For “Mukkabaaz,” a film he penned himself, Singh underwent a grueling training routine to play a skilled boxer. Despite the film receiving positive reviews, it did not perform well at the box office, which Singh admitted affected him deeply. Reflecting on that period, he said, “I think I had high hopes after that, but things did not turn out the way I wanted. I was getting emotional in many interviews. Now, when I see it, I wonder what happened to me back then. I realized I was attaching an outcome with the hard work.”

This realization led to a crucial change in his approach to his craft. Singh now focuses solely on the process rather than the result. “In between, I decided that I will have a new innings and it took two-three years…

This upcoming wrestling-centric project is not the only film keeping Vineet Kumar Singh occupied. He is also set to appear as a cop in Susi Ganesan’s “Ghuspaithiya.” Moreover, Singh is collaborating again with director Reema Kagti after their successful partnership in the film “Gold.” The actor expressed his gratitude for being a preferred choice among directors and production houses, stating, “I call myself lucky that directors and production houses repeat me. With Reema Kagti, I did ‘Gold’ and now we have ‘Superboys of Malegaon.’ It was selected for TIFF.”

Singh’s illustrious career is marked by associations with renowned filmmakers, and his professional relationship with Anurag Kashyap is particularly noteworthy. Besides “Mukkabaaz,” they also worked together in the iconic films “Gangs of Wasseypur” and the “Murabba” segment from the anthology film “Bombay Talkies.” His continued re-association with Kashyap speaks volumes about their dynamic collaboration and Singh’s versatile acting prowess.

The actor’s dedication to his roles is evident in his willingness to undergo extensive training, as seen in both “Mukkabaaz” and his current role involving wrestling. This commitment not only enhances his performance but also sets a high standard within the industry.
